Reading poor evaluation soon after bad review of climate stations, I was pretty hesitant to invest in 1. The WS-1170 was a single of the few units to consistantly receive fantastic evaluations so I took a shot with a single. I decided to go with the two-Kit for a handful of additional dollars so that I could have a second unit on a totally different floor. The WS-1170 was easy to set up. It identified the atomic clock signal with no situation and when I periodically examine each units readings against the climate posted on the Internet, they are amazingly precise. Confident, you don't get wind speed or direction, or rain fall amounts but for the cash, I consider the WS-1170 is a value, even a great deal more so if you get the 2-Kit. It is fantastic to see temperature, humidity (indoor and outdoor) as well as the barometric pressure at a glance and its nice to have units in two locations. The outdoor sensor is attached to a north facing wall (as advised) below an overhang to keep it away from precipitation (as also advised) and each base units, less than 100ft from the sensor, have no problem choosing up the signal. An added feature to the units is how they retain the background, along with a time stamp, of the highs and lows in temperature, humidity and air pressure. If you are searching for an quick to use, accurate, basic weather station, I extremely advocate the WS-1170 two-Kit.
I received this about a week and a half ago. Setup was simple, following the directions in the manual that comes with it. I got a dual station/single sensor package. Each stations had a little difficulty choosing up the WWV clock signal, but eventually got themselves in sync by late evening.
I am only applying this in the default mode - I have not tried to program any alarms and such. No concerns with this product.
