I originally bought an Ambient Climate WS-1170. I was truly pleased with it, so was my wife, an elementary teacher. She wanted it to teach weather to her students. I got to upgrade to a true climate station. Thus,I got the Ambient Climate WS-2080 about a month ago and I am particularly pleased with it. It has worked perfectly. The folks at Ambient Climate are awesome and definitely valuable and friendly. You can devote many times this a lot on other weather stations, but like I mentioned, this 1 has worked perfectly from day a single. Plus, all the readings appear incredibly correct. Soon after the third sizeable branch hit my residence, we had the tree cut down.
I just received the station yesterday and have completed most of the checkout just before I install it on the roof. It is what you payed for. I did not what to devote a lot of cash so soon after consideration of quite a few stations I chose this station. I noticed that most of the sensors for stations in this price tag range had been the similar kind, possibly some variation in the electronics, but structurally equivalent. From what I read in critiques you can expect the sensors to last amongst one particular and two years. There is some upkeep required. I believe that the phone style connector contacts will will need cleaning each and every year, and I would first suspect the connectors if a sensor stops operating. You should place bird spikes on the rain and solar shield to help preserve then clean and to prevent any possible harm from birds. Also, do not expect the sensors to handle extremely negative weather. If winds get above 70 mph I would not be shocked to shed a sensor or two. I did notice that no makers seem to list climate limits. The wind sensor will monitor high winds, just might possibly not survive the winds.
Everything operate out of the box. Spent some time reading manual so that I knew what it was capable of and what the limitations had been. This was nice in that anything required except mounting pole was included, even Computer cable and software program. Would I advise it to a friend, yes. Just would warn them that it is like any low price device, it could possibly not have the extended life an individual would want, but it did not expense $1,500 dollars or even more. I did not give it five stars merely since the device is comparable to other devices and the maker has had mixed evaluations on other models even so, it seemed to me that all maker's got mixed evaluations so it should be the entry level of these items, so absolutely nothing stands out with this product from other people. I choose this model considering that of capabilities (equivalent to other models), it was a new model so parts may be less difficult to obtain, and finally price tag.
